WORLD
The improvements of the living conditions, administration, democracy
and the right to freedom are essential, but if we only go to conferences,
meetings and declarations, and the citizens have the impression that the
economy does not progress and there are no perspectives for the future,
“then we see what is happening – people leave. Many young people try to

At the same time, the Government
must undertake the necessary measures
to respond to the numerous deficiencies
that came to light from what we now call
“eavesdropping affair”. That is the point
of Priebe’s report, published on June 19th,
which contains numerous recommenda-
tions on the guarantee of a legal state,
the respect of fundamental freedoms and
the segregation of power in Macedonia.
MINISTER HARLEM DESIR AND HER EXCELLENCY MADAM LORENS OER ABOUT THE MIGRANT CRISIS
Macedonia, same as Serbia, today faces
an unprecedented migratory pressure.
What we call Balkan path, today is the
main route that migrants use, more than
45.000 since the middle of June, and anal-
yses show that the phenomenon will con-
tinue. As a candidate country for member-
ship in the EU, Macedonia must consider
the support and the solidarity of the Eu-
ropean partners. The European Commis-
sion announced emergency humanitarian
aid of 1,5 million Euros, however we must
also activate all instruments of European
funds that we have available in order to
help the Balkan countries in the border
control and identification, to distinguish
between the migrants who may request a
status of refugees and those who must re-
turn in their country of origin. This is one
of the goals of the high-level conference
that will take place at the end of this year.
