Defense Minister Jolevski thanked the Group members for the detailed presentation,
and said it was in the Defense Ministry’s interest to encourage the development of local
manufacturers of weapons and equipment, as well as of services that could improve the
performance of existing equipment. The recommendations from the latest NATO Summit
urge countries to put an end to the practice of cutting armed forces’ budgets and suggest that
member states gradually increase their defense funds so as to preserve and protect peace and
security. The Defense Ministry voiced readiness to cooperate with local companies. There
is an ongoing modernization process, which aims to strengthen the capacities of domestic
companies for special-purpose production and cooperation, thereby enhancing the overall
development of this industry.
