Let us touch upon the company’s
investment policy as the basis for long-
term sustainability of its competitive-
ness. How much money does Alkaloid
put into research and development and

Z. Mukaetov: Total investments of
Alkaloid in the past 15 years amounted
to nearly 150 million euros. Alkaloid
annually allocates 3% of total sales in
research activities, which are crucial in
the development of new pharmaceuti-
cal products. Guided by the principles
that one of the most important param-
eters for the prosperity of the company
is the increased investment in scientif-
ic, research and development activities,
as well as products quality control, Al-
kaloid has invested significant funds in
the research capacity and in the quality
control sectors, such as a new microbi-
ological laboratory (2003), a new chemi-
cal laboratory (2005), a new Institute for
Research and Development (2009) and
a new Quality Control Center equipped
with new pharmaceutical - chemical
and additional microbiological labora-
tories (2016) and the new laboratory Al-
kaLab in Ljubljana, specialized in physi-
cal-chemical testing of pharmaceutical
products of Alkaloid intended for sale
in the European Union markets (2014).
Alkaloid is well known for its activi-
ties related to the social responsibility
of the company. One segment of it is
the policy of scholarships for students.

Foundation was established in May 2007
by a decision of the Managing Board of
Alkaloid in honor of the great strategist,
visionary and engineer of modern Alka-
loid. The successful implementation of
the existing programs proves that the
commitment of the Foundation to the
creation of better conditions for the de-
velopment of pharmacy, medicine and
supporting young, ambitious profes-
sionals who have devoted their careers
to these activities.
