existence of a strong business com-
munity as a prerequisite for a strong
economic growth. Nika Gilauri, for-
mer Prime Minister of Georgia, spoke
about the sequence of measures
which his government had timely
taken in most fields such as the re-
form of the public administration,
departization as a principle, etc.
He said that they tried to use some
standards solutions to which they
added specific additional dimension,
adjusted to the local circumstances.
He pointed out the need of courage,
determination and intransigence in
the reform of the economy. He has
an interesting assessment that inno-
vation actually implies breaking the
rules, however timely.
Professor Vlado Dimovski pre-
sented Slovenia’s experience in the
process of transformation of the
economy. He pointed out the impor-
tance of having a flexible approach
in the change of a country’s business
model. Kosta Barjaba from Albania
pointed out the importance of the
foreign currency remittances from
the diaspora for the Albanian econ-
omy and the need of carefully devel-
oped system which will maximize
the effects of the cooperation with
the diaspora.
The presentation by Igor Tulevski
was impressive. He is a cardiologist
and a general manager of Cardiology
Centers Netherlands. It was inter-
esting to hear about the course of
movement of medicine and its inten-
sive and increasing interaction with
the modern information and com-
munication technologies. Tulevski
predicts that the use of much larger
amounts of information will provide
the medicine of the future to have
much greater power of prediction.
He scored with the words that it is
necessary to invest in clicks, and not
in bricks.
