meters to the south. The route of the rail-
way is still visible. Nearby you will see the
already commenced activities for construc-
tion of the express road which should sig-
nificantly improve traffic safety. The con-
struction of the new road will irrevocably
destroy part of the route of the old railway.

Westward from Strazha you can see a
bare hill and its top called Nozhot. Right
there, at the top 45 soldiers were killed. It
was the bloodiest battle waged in the pe-
riod after the Ilinden Uprising. Even today
in the area of Kostur older residents still
remember the heroism of their ancestors.
Today at this place there is a monument
which, together with the photograph of
the Italian captain Giuseppe Luci, is the
only memory of this great sacrifice on July
14, 1907. Each year the anniversary from
this bloody event in our history is marked
and it is the best time to visit the site.

Everything is quiet on Nozhot is a com-
monly used phrase which describes the
great tragedy, but also the courage and sac-
rifice of the soldiers.
