THE ECONOMIC CHAMBER OF MACEDONIA PUTS FORWARD
SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO TACKLE CURRENT ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENTS: IMMEDIATE ACTIONS TO MITIGATE NEGATIVE
CONSEQUENCES
INITIATIVES The conclusions adopted by the Management Board of the Economic Chamber of Macedonia
emphasize the need for swifter response to administrative procedures that companies initiate in
public bodies.
The lengthy political crisis has led to
developments that have been creating delays
in administrative procedures that companies
initiate in public bodies. Hence, the business
community urges for a timely, responsible, and
prompt response by all public bodies (ministries
and other bodies of the administration) in terms
of processing and completing administrative
procedures being conducted under their
competence, mostly concerning the issuing
of permits, approvals, compliances, and
other documents a company may need to do
business in its respective field. Recently, it has
been noticed that some administrative bodies
have started making unusual demands for
additional documents (which are already in
the possession of the respective public body),
thereby causing unjustified delays, which did not
occur beforehand. Given the aforementioned, it
has been concluded that ministries and other
bodies of the administration should work at full
capacity and meet their obligations. In this way, all participants in an administrative procedure
will enjoy their rights, founded on the principles of legality, responsibility, efficiency, cost-
effectiveness, transparency, equality and predictability.
With the aim of assisting companies in completing procedures initiated before public bodies, and
protecting companies’ right to timely, efficient and effective services, the Chamber decided to
establish an operational office as part of its administrative office. The Chamber formed a team
who will be taking in companies’ requests for assistance and support in communication with
public bodies and will be helping businesses complete administrative procedures in bodies of
the public administration. In this way, the Chamber will be addressing companies’ requirements
for swift and effective completion of administrative procedures, especially procedures that are
urgent and whose delay could harm companies’ operations. The office, which started working on
27 June 2016, will be available to companies 24 hours a day.
