Western Balkan countries at Bled Strategic Forum 2015 in Slovenia

SIGN INITIATIVE TO FACILITATE

DIGITIZATION PROCESSES

Chambers of commerce of Western Balkan countries, united under the umbrella of the Chamber Investment
Forum (CIF), participated in the ministerial meeting held in the framework of the Bled Strategic Forum 2016, in
Bled, Slovenia. At the event, focused on the issue of digital transformation, the chambers of commerce signed a
joint Digital Initiative, thereby committing to accelerate the digitization processes in the region. Digitization is
important in the ongoing efforts to improve economies’ competitiveness and increase the level of cooperation
among businesses in the region.

On behalf of the Economic Chamber of Macedonia, the Digital Initiative was signed by Mr. Antoni Peshev,
Chairman of the Assembly of the Economic Chamber of Macedonia. Assembly Chairman Peshev also participated
in the debate entitled “The Challenges of Digital Transformation in EU and Western Balkan Countries”, which
was organized by Slovenia’s Ministry of Public Administration, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of
Slovenia in the framework of the ministerial meeting.

The purpose of this Forum, which gathered in one place key policy- and decision-makers in this area, alongside
business associations and companies, was to launch a dialogue and present good practices, thereby pointing
out the importance of and new opportunities provided through digital transformation and its benefits for
citizens, companies, economies and public administrations. In addition, the Forum emphasized the need for
faster digitization at regional level, bearing in mind its role in the efforts to facilitate and strengthen regional
cooperation.
