But that is in the part of Ilino Mountain with
its highest peak Liska, which is 1909 meters
high. In fact, it is the same massif that in the
southeast is called Plake Mountain.

The mountain is especially rich with
game. It can be noticed immediately upon
arrival in the villages, where in many of the
houses skins of wild animals are dried, pri-
marily wild boars which are abundant in the
area.

One of the larger villages is Kuratica. Ac-
cording to the last census, the village has
326 inhabitants. It is a village with as many
as four churches. And yes, about its name.
There are many legends: one is that the
name comes from a Turkish word denot-
ing “dry valley”, the second is that it is de-
rived from the word “bed”, the third is that
it comes from the Vlach word “fast”, while
the last one is associated with the personal
name Kurat. Locals say that exactly the last
one is the most likely origin of the name of
this village.

These are all interesting places to visit and
enjoy the last moments of a dying craft and
the stunning natural beauty.
