FIVE DECADES’ MISSION FOR SEISMIC JUBILEES
CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS

One of the main missions of
the Institute of Earthquake
Engineering and Engineering
Seismology is to assist in the
creation and improvement of
construction standards for
seismic areas. The Institute
participated in the adoption
of the construction rules for
buildings on the territory
of ex-Yugoslavia, which still
apply. The Institute was
the sole developer of the
recommendations for seismic
construction rules for civil
engineering structures.

The European construction
regulations should enter
into force in Macedonia.
The Institute’s task is to
pass all national parameters
necessary for Eurocode 8 and to present the new map for seismic zones in
Macedonia by the end of this year.
