The inflow of Foreign direct Investments CHART OF THEРУMБOРNИTКHА
(FdIs) is always a hot topic in the Republic
of Macedonia. The first impression from this FDIS, NET IN THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA
chart is that the net inflow of FdIs is uneven (USD million)
over the years. In nine out of seventeen
observed years the net inflow of FdIs is slightly УЧЕсТВо Во ВКУПнИоТ ИЗВоЗ нА РЕПУБлИКА
above or below uSd 200 million. Second, мАКЕдонИЈА (ЈАнУАРИ-АВГУсТ 2014, Во %)
larger amounts in certain years reflect inflows
that are privatization proceeds from the sale извор: државен завод за статистика на република Македонија

the telecommunications, energy sector, etc.
Also in 2015 the net inflow of FdIs is generally FDIS, NET IN THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA
at the level from the previous two years and (% of GDP)
in the first half of 2015 amounted to uSd 123

FDIS, NET IN THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA BY COUNTRIES
The second chart exhibits the net inflow of
FdIs in relative terms, as a percent of GdP. As (share in total FDIs, in %)
expected, the chart looks different compared
to the previous one. It can be noticed that along
with the growth of the Macedonian economy
over time, the higher absolute amounts from
the previous chart look smaller when presented
as a percent of GdP. The impression about the
uneven distribution remains, where in nine out
of seventeen observed years the net inflow of
FdIs is smaller than 3 percent of GdP.
According to the nbRM’s data, as of the end
of 2014, the total net inflow of FdIs in the
Republic of Macedonia equals uSd 4,892
million. by countries, eight countries have a
joint share of 72.6 percent in the total net FdIs
in the Republic of Macedonia. when discussing
the country of FdI origin, one should bear in
mind that in certain cases a Macedonian
firm has been acquired by a subsidiary of a
foreign investor with headquarters in a third
country, different from the country where the
headquarters of the buyer is located.
