Whenever we have new products such
as Windows 10, it is natural to raise the
question of protection from so-called ‚pi-
rates‘. How does Microsoft fight against it?
Stefan Plavjanski: There is no country
which is immune to the counterfeiting of
software - it is a global problem that needs
to be addressed in every market. Accord-
ing to recent reports, the level of software
piracy in Macedonia is 66%, which is equal
to a loss of 22 million USD. Unfortunately,
unlike other countries in the region and
the European Union, Macedonia is the only
country that is experiencing a high rate
of use of unlicensed, improperly licensed,
outdated or unsupported software in the
institutions of government and public ad-
ministration, and by such fact, the coun-
try is exposed to a great data security risk, expect?
but also it affects the image of the country
which declares that it takes care of the pro-
tection of intellectual property.
Our approach in the fight against the
use of unlicensed software in the commer-
cial sector in Macedonia is similar to the
one in other markets - combined approach
with training, technology solutions and le-
gal sanctions.
In the IT business things move ex-
tremely fast. In this context, what are the

Stefan Plavjanski: Windows 10 marks a
new era for Windows, in which it will be
delivered to customers as a service, con-
stantly bringing innovations and new func-
tionalities, by permanent increase of value
for our commercial and corporate custom-
ers. Windows 10 will automatically be up-
dated in order to offer full compatibility
and to support new mobile devices that will
be launched in the market either by Micro-
soft (Surface Hub, HoloLens, Xbox), or by
other manufacturers of devices based on
Windows 10 platform.
Microsoft is also famous for its involve-
ment in the modernization of the educa-
tion system through the introduction of
information technology worldwide and
in Macedonia. Tell us what is the role of

teachers and administrators. Windows 10
